Emma & Therese Children’s Project (ETCP) works for orphans and other vulnerable children with special focus on those living on the streets. Our ambition is to reunite children with their families but in cases where that is not possible, we offer them accommodation for a shorter or longer period depending on the child’s individual situation.
We have a big house, with professional and experienced staff and volunteers available to cater for the children’s needs all the time. ETCP also provides transit accomodation, an apartment for those above 18 years who have not yet completed their studies.
Currently we have 45 children and young adults. 18 boys aged 4-17 years who stay at the project house, six older boys in our transit apartment and 21 girls and boys staying with their families/relatives or in foster homes.
Daily we strive in different ways to make sure the children’s needs are satisfied which means, apart from assuring them food and accommodation, providing them with clothes and shoes, school fees, access to health- and dental care, that they receive psychosocial support and counselling, legal assistance and of course a range of leisure- and extracurricular activities.
Arts and crafts, music, dance and drama are very popular among the kids as well as, carpentry, farming, baking, cooking and sports. Soccer is the favourite for many.
The love they have for soccer is one of the reasons why we also annually arrange ETCP Kabale Youth Football Tournament that has become one of Uganda’s largest, uniting hundreds of young boys and girls every Christmas holiday.
